The Ozark Highlands Endurance Run offers participants the opportunity to experience the world-class trail system located minutes from town. The 1.2-million acre Ozark-St. Francis National Forests offer endless opportunities for adventure. As one of America’s most scenic and picturesque areas, the Ozark-St. Francis provides a lot of the “natural” in the Natural State of Arkansas.
The Ozark Highlands 50K course will start out at Norfork River Resort and proceed towards the Ozark Highlands Trail via 2.7 miles of rolling roads. The trail traverses through numerous hollows and takes participants across some of the most rugged and remote terrain in the Ozark National Forest. Runners will follow the OHT to the Brush Creek Trailhead and return back to the resort.
The Twin Creek Twenty short course option will follow the same route as the Ozark Highlands 50K, but turnaround at Twin Creek Road Aid Station.
Norfork is reputed to be one of the finest trout fishing areas in the United States, possibly the world, and offers many miles of challenging singletrack trails. Located in a beautiful valley in north central Arkansas where the White River is joined by the North Fork River, the town was established adjacent to the Wolf House, (c 1829), which is the oldest public structure in Arkansas.

I am from out-of-state and registered for this run as part of a trip to visit Hot Springs National Park. I really enjoyed this race. It is an out-and-back race that mostly takes place on the Ozark Highlands Trail. The trail is mostly runable, though there were sections I had to walk due to all the rocks. Some runners more familiar with running on rocks were able to run these sections, though. The race organizers were super helpful, friendly, and supportive. I enjoyed staying at the Norfolk River Resort, where the race started and finished. The resort owners were extremely welcoming. The Ozarks are very scenic and I have fond memories of this race. If I didn’t live so far away, I would certainly run it again.
