The Ocracoke Island Weekend Runfest features the Scallywag 5K/10K on Saturday and Blackbeard’s 1/2 Marathon on Sunday. The 5K & 10K run will take place in the Village of Ocracoke through historic neighborhoods, by Ocracoke Harbor, and by the 2nd oldest lighthouse in the United States in continuous service. The course is basically flat.
The half marathon course, beginning and ending near 1718 Brewery, will run North to Cape Hatteras National Seashore using the Ocracoke multi-use trail and will continue to the Ocracoke Park Service Campground. The course will circle the campground and head back South using the multi-purpose trail, leading to the Village of Ocracoke where you will run through quaint neighborhoods. Looking to PR? This is a flat, fast course.
Are you bursting with energy? The Lt. Maynard’s Challenge is just the thing for you! Lt. Maynard’s Challenge participants will complete either the Scallywag 5K or 10K on Saturday and then the Blackbeard’s Half Marathon on Sunday. All Lt. Maynard’s Challenge finishers will receive a unique finisher item to recognize their special achievement. Complete this challenge to receive bragging rights thus far only enjoyed by Lt. Maynard himself. Can you slay Blackbeard?
The Ocracoke Island Weekend Runfest is a benefit for Ocracoke Community Radio WOVV, Ocracoke School Athletic Boosters Club, and Ocracoke Community Park. Your support of this event will help to fund these community services which provide a great benefit to our island.

Mode of transportation is best by bike, golf cart or simply walking. Most of Ocracoke Island consists of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. You will not see any beachfront homes here, only wide open beautiful beaches where shelling is great and recreational opportunities abound.
