Join us as we celebrate our 15-year run of great races and fun vibes and throw it back to 2011. It was the year we first met Siri on our iPhone, saw England’s future King William marry his new Princess Kate, and NYCRUNS introduced a new approach to running events — serious races that don’t take themselves too seriously. A perfect formula for good times on and off the course!
On November 20, 2011, we introduced the first-ever Brooklyn Marathon, which became the Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon, and is now the Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon (did you get all that)!
To honor the 262 runners who looped (and looped and looped and….) around Prospect Park in the first Brooklyn Marathon, we’ll be running it again (and we’re throwing in a half for good measure). Join us for the 2025 NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon and celebrate 15 years of NYCRUNNING!
The Courses
Both the marathon and half marathon courses start on West Drive & Well House Drive. The 13.1-mile half Marathon course makes just under four (4) full loops of the park before making a left turn up Center Drive for the final push to the Finish. The 26.2-mile marathon course makes three (3) lower loops of the park before making just under six (6) full loops of the park before making a left turn up Center Drive for the final push to the Finish. Water, electrolyte fluids, restrooms, and medical support will be available throughout both courses. All NYCRUNS courses are USATF-certified.

Prospect Park is pretty and the shirt & medal are nice. I think this is a good local race and/or a good race to use for getting in some supported training miles. I wouldn’t classify it as a destination worthy race since you remain in the Park for the entire course (this is true for both the Full and Half). People unfamiliar with the Park may have some difficulty finding Race Day Central. They do same day bib and shirt pickup, so no Expo to attend (or vendors to visit).
