The part of the course that goes along Lake Erie is so beautiful and I love running through the woods on trails for a bit. The long sleeve shirt is great. My only complaint is there are not enought port-o-pots on the course. I ran this race while pregnant and had to go every mile and there was no place to go.
Wind and rain but I did it!

Ran this race during Covid times so everything was most likely different than usual. Easy packet pick-up at the local running store. I know they changed to course to double loop. It was rainy and windy and even hailed a one point. The course was very pretty – a few miles on easy trails and along Lake Erie and the leaves were beautiul. They has frequent aid stations with water and gatorade. No food at the end due to covid. They did hand us a pretty medal wrapped up and we got a nice long sleeve shirt that I won’t wear to run in (it’s a hybrid material but feels like cotton) but will definately wear a lot. Overall I thought this was a great race. Thank you to all the volunteers who stood out there in elements to take care of us. Thought they did a good job at social distancing and the race was small, so it was very easy to stay 6 feet from other runners.
A 2020 live race!

The course had to be changed (because state part wouldn’t allow the race), and it was a double-loop, with minimal hills. Some through the woods/near the lake, some on a busy road shoulder.
The weather was pretty bad–rainy, 40 degrees, a little sleet, and massive winds–but it wasn’t the WORST (that still remains Rocket City 2018). I have learned how to dress for this weather–need hat with a brim, rain jacket, wool underwear.
Well-done, well-executed race–really made the effort to host the runners. I drove from VA–plenty of parking. Brought a hydration backpack b/c of COVID. Swag is long-sleeve cotton shirt (name brand fabric)–my only complaint is it doesn’t have the year or date.
Medal is also cute, year only on ribbon. I was so grateful to run a live =race!

Hey, what budget conscious marathoner can pass up a marathon for $26.20? Seriously though, it was a good value for the money. Like another review I read, I had looked at the course and thought it was a good PR course. SO fueled by the anger and frustration of not making the cut for the 2019 Boston, I set out to PR and set an even lower qualifying time. With a temperature and humidity that was higher than my ideal running temp, I did not meet my goal. I did, however place second in my age division. It was a decent course and was plentiful with aid stations about every other mile. The people in the neighborhoods were friendly as was the staff of each of the stations. The race started on time and was marked out well enough to follow but they still had someone at each turn to keep us straight. All went smooth and the medals were unique.
If you are looking for a race with fans lining the streets, this is not the one. Spectators were few and far between. But if you’re looking small, inexpensive and well organized race, this is the one.

I’ve ran this race twice and I really love it. It’s one of my favorites. It’s definitely a smaller race, and not much crowd support, but that doesn’t bother me. The course is well supported by water stations and running a few areas past Lake Erie are definitely beautiful. The medals are so fun and walking around the beach afterwards is a tradition. This is definitely a fast, PR course.

I really enjoyed this race. I went there with the intention of attempting a PR; it wasn’t there for me that day, but it was for the two people that I traveled with. It is a smaller race and I liked the community feel.
Some positives about the race:
*Same day bib pick up; we drove a couple hours and it was nice not to have to get a room, just pick up our bibs
*the medals were great – they even lit up!
*the shirts were nice
*the race started on time, was well marked and had plenty of water/aid stations
*Price was reasonable to sign up
*Easy parking, getting to the start of the race, etc.
There isn’t anything that I would change about it. It was a nice race.
