Packet pickup was fairly easy with going to a local sporting goods store. No expo. Just a quick in and out to get your race bib. Not much swag given other than kombucha powder mix. Ample parking near the event. Expect there to be lots of cars heading to the same destination The race could have started earlier since it is hotter than heck. It did not take much time for it to heat up. There’s not much shade and running on the asphalt next to vehicle traffic made it even worse. I did appreciate the refreshments during the course. Loved the wet shop towel and the pickle juice. It was so incredibly sunny and hot so much thanks to the volunteers for being out there. The after event did have a lot of beverages so that was nice to try different brands of energy drinks. I would not do this event again due to the extreme heat. My advice is that runners bring their own hydration pack.

Really hot race in June in Texas. Overall an average race with not a lot to look at. The 10k does an out and back while the half marathon might have a more scenic race. This might be a maybe moving forward.
Arriving there and getting my bib and shirt was easy. Shirt is a tanktop which is a plus.
Poorly organized. Crappy courses.

We went as a group that included club runners, a ranked elite, a ranked masters elite, and a couple of professionally certified coaches. Some ran the 5K, 10K and the half. Some won their age groups. Two won Overall. And, their feedback:
The 5K had far too many turns. A slow, not well-marked and somewhat dangerous course that was complicated by bystanders standing on the course at some corners. If you like lots of turns and running in a parking lot, this might be for you. If not, consider Parkrun as it is better and free.
The 10K had a better course. Not much to see.
Half marathon course was okay. One section was a nice, shaded country road, BUT tons of potholes. Dangerous. Some tripped. Likely, some turned their ankles. Quick pass of the “Dallas” ranch which was under renovation and nothing to see. The ranch is center to the race brand, featured in the race picture. Yet, this fact was known and never publicized!
We asked the runners if they wanted to return based on the following: Would you like to return next year? All respondents said, “no”.
If entry was comp’d (free) would you go? All respondents said, “no”.

I ran as part of running in all 50 states. The weather was about low 70’s at the start and high 80’s around 9:30. The course went around closed lanes on bigger roads and through some parks. We ran by SouthFork Ranch but there were cattle or animals.
The course had ample fluid stops which were all well managed. The course starts and ends at an outdoor amphitheater which had cold water, Gatorade, bananas, and some other snacks. There were some other businesses there giving out samples of drinks too – like Athletic Brewing.
The medal was nice and the tank top was too. If you can tolerate Texas heat in June it’s a good race.
Very nice run by Southfork ranch
