The climbs are fairly intense but not technical. This race didn’t have a lot of up and down running it’s Up for a long while, then down for a really long while and then back up again. final distance was closer to 7.2 than 6.2 miles. which was fine but I didn’t really plan on having a full extra mile. was grateful to have had a flask to carry along, to refill at the aid stations.

The trail was a little bit tight at some parts when some runners were turning around and others were still making their way to the half point mark. During the last mile, I could hear the host saying people’s names as they finished and that kept me going to the end, hearing the after-party celebrations. It was a very welcoming environment for someone who doesn’t do races very often. I really enjoyed getting an included meal (and a concert from Kyle Richard!) afterward, it made me feel VIP. Overall I’d do it again… with more training.

This course was beautiful from start to finish. Fairly intense trek up to peak as it is a ski resort. Views were incredible it was hard not to stop to take pictures. The race directors from “Negative Split” are always exceptional and swag was high quality. I will return next year for sure.

This is a legit mountain run. I think they set up the race to be merciful at times by traversing up the side, and being unforgiving other times with 2 miles of steep grade. I think the views and scenery were worth it though. Negative Split always puts on good races. The aid stations had whatever you needed for a non-marathon distance, and I appreciate the Gatorades and G-zero. Did I mention the free beer and brat after? I appreciated that. I hope they do that after more of the races in the future – runners need significant protein after racing so the brat was a valuable option. Thanks Neg Split!
