Deep in California’s Eastern Sierra – home to Mammoth Lakes – you will find an inclusive large-scale event on breathtaking terrain. from world-class races and community focused events, to free live entertainment, storytelling, and great local food, mammoth trailfest. is a multi-day experience designed to increase access to trail running through opportunity, education, and trail stewardship. it is an event built by our community, for our community, right in the heart of California.

Entry includes: limited edition trailfest. swag; unique finishers medal; post race food and drink; professional live chip timing with on course splits (50K/26K); well stocked aid stations with generous cut-off times; goodies from partners; 3 day festival with activations, talks, and performances; community shakeout runs; fan zones; post race party Sunday night; bus transport to start/from finish of Dragon’s Back Ascent; free town transit; additional perks/details will be announced.
Dragon’s Back Ascent
Everyone is encouraged to kick off the weekend with a run, hike, or walk from Twin Lakes Bridge in Mammoth Lakes Basin at 8,500′ up the world famous and unbelievably beautiful Dragon’s Back Trail to the summit of Mammoth Mountain at over 11,000′. Party on the summit with doughnuts and music as the awards for Dragon’s Back Ascent are given during the Summit Ceremony. After a family photo enjoy a scenic gondola ride off the top of California. Spectators encouraged along the course and summit, BRING YOUR COWBELL! $3,700 Purse, 2.5hr cutoff

Single loop course of Mammoth Lakes that starts/ends in the Village plaza designed for maximum beauty, experience, and challenge. Kid’s 1K
Free event for children that will start/end under the same arch all races use in the Village Plaza!
26K
Single loop course perfect for testing your mountain legs or an elites’ finale after a long season of racing. Participants will start in the Village Plaza surrounded by fans and do a small but tough and technical loop of the region with a Mammoth Mountain summit before returning to the lively Village Plaza. $9,000 Purse! 7hr cutoff

Mammoth Lakes
Home to just 8,000 permanent residents, Mammoth Lakes is a small ski town tucked high along the eastern flanks of California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range and surrounded by numerous Wilderness areas, National Forest land, and beneath 14,000ft peaks. This area is just north of Payahuunadü -Land of the Flowing Water- which has been cared for by Nüümü since time immemorial. It is a place you have to experience to still not fully believe exists. The jagged mountains breach straight up from the valley floor and tower over everything in sight including endless world-class singletrack trails. The enchantment and beauty of the Eastern Sierra often lure people in and they never leave. As visitors on this land we have a responsibility to be good stewards to the trails and Mammoth Trail Fest aims to educate our growing community on the importance of sustainable use and provide opportunities to give back to the area that grants us revelatory experiences.

What an epic event! It was amazing
I highly recommend this event. Gorgeous views. It made me fall in love with the eastern Sierras. I used this event as a last training block for my 100K and it was perfect for that! I will probably do this event again be wise it was so awesome.
