The course is an actual runway and is an out and back course. Being on the runway was exciting, great views of the airport and airplanes. The downside on this day was a storm moving in which caused high winds which were nice on the during first half but very challenging on second half coming back to finish line.
Swag was great, the medal especially. No special food or drink at end of the race, just water bottles.
Fun Race

This is the 2nd year for this race. Running on the runway is a fun start to the weekend.
Packet Pickup – Easy, but the location was not overly convenient. Race day pick up is tough when your car is parked 2 miles away so you have nowhere to put your stuff, but the process was simple and the folks nice.
Race Day – Parking was available at the airport lot for $6 and you were shuttled to the start. It was a very smooth process, but paying for parking is always a downer. The shuttle service was quick and easy. The emcee of the event was great. He’s really got a knack for hosting events. He kept with the theme and was fun to listen to. Plenty of porta-lets at the start.
Race Start – The starting line is very congested and and there’s no where to expand since you’re on an airport runway, but once you get moving there’s plenty of space along the route. The start is the only area that’s tough.
Post Race – The medals are fun and the shirts were great. I had a hard time finding food and water at the end of the race, but eventually came across some. The shuttle back to the car was quick and easy, but I left as soon as I was done running and didn’t hang around. I could see a line forming as folks started to leave, but the ride was short and people moved quickly so I can’t imagine it being too much of a hassle.

Con: The starting area of the race was a bit disorganized and a lot of walkers and strollers lined up in the front causing issues at the beginning of the race. I heard several people were tripped up and fell because of this.
Pro: The course was extremely flat and was certified. the course was a loop around the starting area and then out and back.
Pro: The water station was at about mile 1.75 on the out and back was accessible both was which was great since there was no shade cover since you were on the runway.
Pro: The medal and shirt were nice plus since it was just a 5k and most other 5ks offer a cotton tshirt as opposed to tech shirt.
Pro: The organizers offered a ton of race day information on their website and facebook page but unfortunately it appeared that many people did not read it.

This was an okay little race. The draw was that it was a flat course on a runway at Love Field Airport, Dallas.
Entry fee was very reasonable
Prerace pickup was available at a couple local running stores as well as at the race
You got a tech shirt and a bib
Race morning. Parking was about half a mile from the event but free.
The race was at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field Airport.
There were about 1400 runners.
A few vendors and food trucks were on site
The race was run on the ramps and a runway so it was very flat and fast.
You could see commercial aircraft on the other side of the airport at the gates and taking off but other than that and a few older display aircraft there really was not much scenery but the flat course made up for scenery
Finish line everyone got a finisher medal and a bottle of water. There were also bananas and granola bars handed out and as mentioned food truck items for purchase
The trophies were cool but I failed to place. They were airplanes
Your bib got you half price admission to the museum. I have been to that museum and it is worth your time if you are into aircraft
Overall a nice little no frills fast run
I would probably run again if they repeat next year
