If you wanna run a half marathon in Africa, go for this one! It’s perfectly organised and the location couldn’t be more beautiful. Hawassa is a lovely place at the lake about 250km south of Addis Abeba. People are extremely friendly and all the local people were standing at the course to cheer for the runners! Weather conditions were absolutely lovely. The altitude of 1700 meters above sealevel is a bit tricky, but still ok. Most of the runners stay at the wonderful Haile Ressort – so did I. It’s an amazing hotel where you can relax and enjoy the stay! Everything takes place at Haile Resort: pick up of the starter kit, pasta party and also a meeting where runners where informed about everything what was good to know, even that there was one heavy uphill part between km 8 and 9. In the morning of the raceday runners were brought to the start by buses at 5am. Start was at 6:30am. The sunrise at the start was the most beautiful I I have ever seen. A crowd of 250 runners from all over the world met at the start and we all had the time of our life! Really one of the best races ever!
