The Blackwater State Forest offers a natural retreat set amidst the beautiful rolling hills of northwest Florida. Reaching from Conecuh National Forest along the Alabama border toward Eglin Air Force Base, this state forest is Florida’s largest at nearly 190,000 acres. Located in the densely forested Panhandle of northwest Florida, the BWRSF is a prime location for trail running. If you’re looking to get off the pavement and onto the trail, this was quite a challenging half to run. While not overly technical, it did offer some challenges (and an almost waist-deep water crossing.) Actual course distance seemed to be a bit longer than a half, which is a mental challenge at the end!
