The course route carves its way through the heart of a shutdown Flinders Chase National Park. Runners are inspired by post-bushfire regenerating flora and fauna, undulating and deviating roads, an exposed coastal section with cliff top views to the powerful southern ocean and a boardwalk leading to the iconic Remarkable Rocks.
Established in 2015, the Kangaroo Island Marathon is one of the most beautiful marathon courses anywhere in the world, providing once-in-a-lifetime views, a challenging course and an opportunity to see some incredible wildlife. The race is in the Flinders Chase National Park mostly on undulating relatively straight sealed roads. There is 589 metres of elevation gain. There are great views of the Bush, Southern Ocean and natural rock formations. You will be supported by a really friendly team of local volunteers. Sorry no photos, check out the website.
