The course is on the Croom Hiking Trail through central Florida’s long leaf pines, scrub oak covered hills, past creek bottoms & cypress ponds. All races start and finish at the Tucker Hill Fire Tower. There will be 3 water stops along the 7 mile loop. Aid stations for 50K will include fruit, snacks, soda, candy, and gels after the 1st loop
Until 2006, the event was simply called the Croom Trail 50K. In 2006 Race Director Jim Bodoh, a long time Croom Trail Runner, renamed the race in honor of founder and Croom Trail staple, John Holmes.
Drop Bags: Drop bags will be taken to an aid station on the 7 mile loop.
Water Stops / Aid Stations: There will be 3 water stops / aid stations along the 7 mile loop course. 50K runners with 4 loops will have 12 water stops / aid stations and. 16M runners with 2 loops will have 6 water stops / aid stations and 9M runners have 3 water stops. Aid stations for 50K will include fruit, snacks, soda, candy, and gels after the 1st loop.

This was a beautiful course in the Withlacoochee State Forest. I had never run on these trails before and they were beautiful. I think this is a great course for someone wanting to do their first 50k. Jim and Andy do a fantastic job with this race.
