Let the tradition continue. The Jack Bristol Lake Waramaug Ultra Races are the oldest ultras in Connecticut and many other places. It is the oldest 100K in the United States. Come join for the fun and celebration of another banner year.
The course is rolling loops but primarily flat on paved roads around scenic Lake Waramaug. Most people PR on this course. The start is near the intersection of Lake Waramaug Road and Anderson Acres Road in Kent, CT. There is a clockwise 2.2 mile out and then counter-clockwise back at the beginning of the race for all runners. The 50K runners will then do three 7.6 mile laps (counter-clockwise) around the lake followed by a 1.9 mile out and back to the finish at the State Park. The 50 mile runners will complete six laps around the lake and finish at the State Park. The 100K runners will do seven laps around the lake followed by a 2.3 mile out and back to finish at the State Park.
The 50K has 12 hours and the 50M and 100K have 13 hours time limits. However, depending on the time you start the last loop and how dark it is, rain, etc., we may let you continue. We consider all factors, the utmost being your safety and realistic probable finish time. Regardless, that decision is the sole discretion of the RD, Timer or race officials. We try to have everyone finish.
In addition to all manner of fun running around the lake all day (and night) with many new and old friends, your entry covers a hi-tech t-shirt, a medal for the 50K and 50 M race finishers, a buckle for the 100K finishers, as well as post race food. Mount to Coast will also provide a special medal to all finishers.

This is a looped course around Lake Waramaug. If it’s not doable you can bail out easily. The scenery is beautiful and every house on the course seems like they’re outdoing each other for bigger and fancier. Aid stations were full of options from simple snacks to cheese quesadillas, pancakes, sandwiches, etc. Plenty of opportunities to refill your water bottles with water or electrolytes. There is also plenty of room by the start line tho leave a chair and race gear, so you can stop and rest, restock your supplies, change clothes. Parking lot is right there too if you just want to leave your stuff in your vehicle. Only thing that got me was the slope of the road. It’s a counter-clockwise course and the road slopes to the left in a lot of places. This puts extra stress on the left leg. My left calf was so tight after the first lap (13 miles counting the first out and back)that I had to sit and massage it for about 15 minutes, then tape it up, take ibuprofen and hope for the best. It finally worked its way out around mile 18, just in time for absolutely every cloud to disappear and allowing the sun to beat down on the barely shaded course. It was my first 50K, I had very little training due to recovering from and injury, and I still found it manageable…especially with the 12 hour time limit.
