Set in the heart of the North Bay’s craft brew scene, the IPA 10K & Beer Mile Invitational will be hosted at The Barlow in Sebastopol, California. The IPA 10K is a 6.2-mile loop course that starts and finishes at The Barlow. The race kicks off with a “runner’s toast” … MORE

Sebastopol is beautiful, and the course is not very difficult — what little uphill there is occurs in the first half of the run, the last couple of miles are easy — and then you get to try lots of good beer! My favorite is Crooked Goat, but there are many really nice brews such as Bear Republic and others! This is a super fun time! I have run it in 2017 and 2018, and it has been sunny and awesome.

I will definitely come back to do this race again next year. We put together a team to race and stuck around after to enjoy tastings from all the local breweries. Then we watched the beer mile which was super impressive. Overall the race ran very smoothly, nicely organized. Loved the route through the vineyards and on safe roads/side paths.

Beer toast at the start is really fun! Great race to start running season in the spring with and not take that seriously. They do two waves of runners those that are serious racers who plan to finish under an hour and the second wave for those more casual. Thought this split the pack up nicely. The beer festival at the end was amazing and watching the beer mile was unique and fun!

I wanted to try out a 10k distance because I am training for my first Olympic distance triathlon. I’m so glad I choose this event. Not only did the route provide incredibly gorgeous scenery, the race was the perfect size. It was big enough to feel like an event, but not so crowded as to be overwhelming. Most importantly, with so many great local breweries pouring free beer at the finish line, how could this not become a favorite event! I hope to do it again next year! 🙂

Loved this course. Some slight rolling hills. Many had to walk up. Beautiful scenery. Plenty of supportive volunteers and staff. Thank you to public safety for blocking roads. Soft T-shirt. Free tasting beer glass (plastic) after the race. Tons of breweries to taste. Start and finish in The Barlow. Which meant plenty of parking, food, wine, shopping. Such a fantastic location! Well thought out and organized! This is easily my favorite 10k.

I love this not-too-early in the morning 10K, which has great weather and one of the best post-race festivals afterward. The layout of The Barlow is perfect and the beer vendors are some of the best around. The quality and design of the t-shirts and the rubber tasting glasses are great, better than most other races. The beer mile is really fun to watch and provides some serious entertainment. This is one race I will be doing year after year!

Loved the cheering community along the path (though I wish there were more!). The after-event was a pure joy with free-flowing beer and cider – but no craziness. Every volunteer/staff person I came into contact with was an absolute delight. The course was easy and lovely (hopefully they can improve on lessening the amount of drivers that pass by / exhaust). Will definitely be back next year!

This was the 2nd year for this race and it keeps getting better. The course is a rolling uphill for first few miles then levels off and then you go down towards the end. The best part is the beer fest at the end. This year there was double the breweries-I believe 15 or so and you definitely got your fill if you wanted it. Great talking to other runners in line. The medal was cool and functional as a bottle opener as well. Hard not to like this event if your into beer and running. Best of both put together. Great enthusiasm by the announcer and crowd for beer mile as well. The only improvement may be to have an open division for the beer mile but that may get a bit long.

Relatives came to cheer me on and purchased the beer tasting tickets (not cheap). By the time I cooled down and we were ready to sample beer, 1/2 of the vendors closed down shop already. That was just 11am! Vendors were supposed to be open until 2:30pm. Great idea, poor execution. In a sense folks paid money for something that was not provided. The beer that remained was not highly sought after either. Big downer for an event that had so much promise.

What is not to like about a 10K that ends at an amazing beer festival. I came in from Sunnyvale and had such a great time. My buddy Robert took up running again, just so he could compete in this event. Race organization was friendly and efficient. The Barlow was fun to explore. Oh yeah, I was the one dressed as the Easter Bunny (because IPA’s are hoppy…)

I’m local to Sonoma County and have ran on parts of the race course. I enjoyed the course. There were some gentle hills to challenge the legs some. I was pacing a friend back from an injury, so we keep it nice and easy and didn’t feel pressured to run faster to clear the course. I felt that it was friendly to runners of all speeds. Plus the weather in Sonoma County in April is generally nice and makes it a great place to run. The Beer Fest afterwards was a lot of fun (my brother said he would come and support me at this race every year). I am looking forward to running this race again in 2018.
