The halfmarathon is one of the fastest in Europe with>10% of the runners finishing in less than 1:30h. With a continuous slightly downhill course (-1%) the race feels flat but might offer you the right extra push for your PR. The weather in march 2017 was perfect. The start is in Kalampaka/ central square where you can deposit your bags that will be brought to the finish in Trikala. The course is a loooooooong straight stretch on the main road between the two cities. The start offers views to Meteora rocks but inbetween the scenery is rather dull with fields and industrial areas. I was focussed on my running and couldn’t care less 😉
Water, isotonics and gel along the course; a finisher bag with juice and a cheese sandwich at the finish. After the awards ceremony a free shuttle was offered back to the start (for those staying in Trikala, the shuttle was free in the morning to get to the start). Tshirt and great medal included, one got that all for 15€- what a great quality and value race!
