The St. Elizabeth Healthcare Honor Run Half Marathon, Honor Run Half Marathon 10K Presented by Medpace, and the Honor Run Half Marathon 5K will be held on Veteran’s Day weekend Sunday. Come join underneath the iconic Florence Y’All water tower and help honor those who have served us!
The 13.1 mile St. Elizabeth Honor Run Half Marathon begins at 7:00 am. The 10K and 5K Run/Walk will start at 7:45 am. The half marathon course is a rolling 13.1 miles throughout the city of Florence and parts of unincorporated Boone County that starts and finishes under the iconic Florence Y’All water tower. The scenic course includes the following landmarks: Florence Mall, The Mall Road Business District, The Houston Road Business District and the Turfway Park Race Course.
Started in 2014, the mission of the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Honor Run Half Marathon is simple; to honor those who haved served us! All proceeds from the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Honor Run Half Marathon, 10K Run/Walk, and 5K Run/Walk are donated to Honor Flight Tri State to help send local Veterans who have served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam to Washington DC for the day to see the memorials they have earned. Over the last 9 years we have had the privilege of donating $385,000 to Honor Flight Tri State to help send 704 local veterans to Washington DC. As long as there are veterans to make the trip we will continue to be in their service!

I ran the race in memory of my wife’s grandfather who was a WWII vet and she ran in honor of her uncles who were Vietnam vets.
Morning started with the reading of Johnny Cash’s Ragged Old Flag, followed by National Anthem, and Taps.
It was very cold 30 degrees at the start and snowed the day before. The mall was open to get out of the cold before the race
Course ran through town and all roads were closed. Scenery was average.
Though it was hilly, it was not as bad as I expected from everything I had read.
Aid stations were plentiful and had water and Gatorade.
Post race had Jersey Mike sandwiches, chili dogs, bananas, water, chips, granola bars, and my favorite chocolate milk! Also had coffee truck and massage tables.
Packet pick up was at Florence mall, no expo.
Swag was a very nice medal with a Korean War soldiers on back. Shirt was long sleeve neon dri-fit.
I would definitely recommend this race.
Supports Honor Flight. An amazing organ.

The race is for a great cause! Lots of red, white & blue and people proudly carrying the flag. The course had rolling hills throughout, with the steepest one near the end. Water stops (no gatorade) every 2ish miles. Very few spectators, which is understandable because it was so cold! There is literally nothing to see on the course except chain restaurants and stores. Organizers were good at communicating, but unfortunately they weren’t able to get the medals in time. (We will still be able to pick them up when they do arrive.) Not a big deal to me. The skyline at the end hit the spot!
