The only ding against this race is that registration didn’t open until two months before the race itself. Most people plan our their programs much earlier. But besides that, it was a scenic race through the Belgian countryside, mostly on roads with the occasional strip of cobblestones and trail paths. With two detours into famous breweries with a start/finish at Duvel, the breweries themselves are a tiny portion of the overall distance (and they don’t have beer stations), which could end up being something of a gimmick. But the organizers make up for that by giving each marathon finisher NINE Belgian beers at the end. This makes for quite a fun post-race situation.
