Is kinda everything you expect. A very smooth and professional race organisation for the 30,000 + runners in three distances. I participated for the third time in the Grand Prix- the self proclaimed 10 most beautiful miles in the world. Starting with a downhill mile from Bern exhibition center the runners run in 20 waves through the inner city that is flagged with the flag of every Swiss “Kanton”/ federal district. Streets are full of cafes, people sit there, stand, shout, clap and ring cow bells. Later one get direct along the river Aare, through the city park and back to the inner city and the expo. There are several uphill sand especially that mile 9 is killing you if you went to hard.
Every year there is a different finishers gift (visor, head band, … this year: gloves) with the Grand Prix logo. Medal or race shirt has to be paid extra. But one of the best parts: with registration, one gets a free return ticket for public transportation within Switzerland to get to the start (that equalled what I paid for the registration)….
