God’s Country Marathon

God’s Country Marathon is Pennsylvania’s third longest standing marathon and was listed as one of the “Best Small Marathons” and “10 Toughest Marathons” in the USA by Runner’s World Magazine. Competitor Magazine listed the God’s Country Half Marathon as one of “America’s 25 Greatest Half Marathons”.

The God’s Country Marathon begins 1,300 feet above sea level in Galeton, Pennsylvania. After a 2-mile dogleg east to Nob Hill Motel, runners tour around Galeton’s Berger Lake and then head west on Route 6, entering the majestic Susquehannock State Forest. Just past the 15-mile mark, runners begin the most challenging section of the race, conquering Denton Hill, which peaks at 2,424 feet. From there, it is rolling hills on a mostly downhill track to the finish line at the picturesque Coudersport Courthouse Square.

Breathtaking scenery in an untouched part of Pennsylvania makes the God’s Country Marathon a unique event. Our course is measured and marked by Run High of Grove City, PA and is a certified race and sanctioned event, as well as a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon.
