This was the first year of the Turtle Trot, and overall it was a great experience! There were 1115 runners, which was far more than I expected. I had a friend pick up my bib at early pickup, so I can’t speak to how smooth it was, but he didn’t have any complaints. The shirt and medal were both very attractive. The course took us through some interesting parts of downtown Atlanta, but it definitely embodied the three tenets of summertime Atlanta running: Hot, Hilly, and Humid! My only complaint about the race is that the start could have been better organized. There were no corrals, which was fine; however, it would have been beneficial to have the announcer suggest a bit of self-seeding. I was maybe 1/5 of the way back in the corral and it took me over 30 seconds to get across the start line. Not only was everyone bunched up, but everyone was strolling toward the start. It took some time and energy to get around the walkers. Overall, though, it was a fun race on a great course!
