The Ephesus Ultra Marathon is an endurance and discovery adventure taking place in Selçuk, İzmir, on the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ephesus, one of the most magnificent legacies of human history.
We are not just a sports organization; We are the architects of a time journey that takes our runners through millennia-old marble streets, in the shadow of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, in the presence of the Virgin Mary, and through the wild nature of the Aegean.
With our courses ranging in difficulty from 5K to 120K, we offer everyone, from elite athletes to those taking their first steps into trail running, the opportunity to run “In the Footsteps of Time”. Our mission is to create an unforgettable experience that respects nature, is sustainable, and blends sport with culture. If you’re ready, we await you in this unique landscape where your footsteps will meet the echoes of thousands of years ago.

Difficulty- it is a trail run…. And seemingly on par with what that means in Turkey (ie basically bouldering and rock jumping – though it was indeed a trail). There was elevation gain. Picture of terrain and elevation chart uploaded.
Scenery- it was very nice! Dried up river beds, saw a sheep heard, at one point we went through a dried up field, that was a little weird and unscenic … but over all, it was nice! Great starting point with history.
Race production- I did packet pick up day off, so I can’t speak to any pre race festivities. But morning of pick up was at the start point. Very easy. There was only one bathroom with two stalls (can only speak to women’s) that I knew of. But maybe there was a secret one elsewhere because there was never a line! The awards ceremony was elsewhere. But only like 20 min away. There was a post run pasta dinner with spaghetti and meat sauce, penne and Alfredo, and Bow tie with feta! And salad. It was good!
Swag- what swag? The tech shirt was nice. And they do reserve the size you requested (unlike some others I’ve been to). However, their sizing is crazy. I got an xsmall and it fits like a medium (or maybe men’s small? Either way, it’s quite large!). There was of course the finisher medal! And that’s it.
Overall, fun race. If I was in the area, I would do it again. But I wouldn’t do it again over another race if it was between the two!
