Fun local race for Thanksgiving morning – nice 5 mile loop starting at the Floyd County fairgrounds. One water stop in the middle and strategically located at the start of the hill going into Community Park – so always a good time to slow up and walk with the water 🙂 The roads are mostly closed (opposite lane is open) but well supported with police at all corners. Already looking forward to next year … mainly because I missed a PR by 8 seconds.

This is a fundraiser for Type 1 Diabetes research so the ‘swag’ is a long-sleeve tech shirt that includes the names of the previous year’s top 500 finishers. It’s a nice 5 mile square around Community Park – though very few spectators, except for those at the start/finish and midway where the route goes through Community Park. There is also a 2 mile walk on a different route – and it’s mostly the walkers who are cheering for the runners at that midway point. It’s all good though because this is a great way to move your feet and earn your Thanksgiving carbs.
