I was visiting the Waynesboro VA area and saw this 5K/10K race.
I did the 10K which took us out onto some residential streets but signage was good and police were there to monitor as we had to cross streets. Last half of race was along the asphalt trail alongside the river. The beauty of the Fall colors really enhanced the race. Fairly flat race course; entire way was asphalt.
Communication (email and Facebook) was adequate for a 10K. Packets could be picked up at local hotel the afternoon before or at the race site on the morning of. Long sleeved shirt had a great Fall design on its brown cotton material. Swag included goodies from the PT sponsoring organization who also offered complimentary consultations at the event.
Morning of race: Plenty of parking. Enough toilets at beginning/end but only one along the route. Aid stations were just right. Nice finishers medal.
First place in age categories got a glass and a 10K visa card – nice touch!!!
I recommend going to The French Press afterwards for coffee. Lots of “medals” could be seen enjoying coffee and pastries.
If you are in the area, I’d definitely recommend this. I’d do it again if I were nearer.
Beautiful Fall run along the river
