The Fair on the Square Half Marathon, 5K & 1-mile walk presented by Hendricks Regional Health is located on the beautiful Courthouse Square in Danville. Our event kicks off the annual Fair on the Square Fall Festival allowing runners to enjoy the festivities and festival offering from traditional small-town vendors. Crafts, foods, apparel and one-of-a-kind offerings will make you smile. The Courthouse Square is so unique that Hollywood filmed the Fall Festival for the movie Mayberry the week prior to the event in 2019. Join us; it is worth the trip.

A very nice small town race with less than 200 Half Marathon Finishers. Well run and organized and it was coupled with the Town Fair which was also nice, The course was primary running the two lane country roads, with the one lane lined with safety cones, and thankfully there was minimal traffic. Packet pickup was just that, pickup the Shirt and Bib but no other swag, Nice Shirt and Medal and Awards for the top three finishers in each category.

I hope they continue the marathon; this year the marathon was a special, one-time only deal due to the Boston Marathon being cancelled. The race was capped at 150 for the 42K. The scenery was awesome, rural/agricultural for 80% (with plenty of room for local traffic and runners) and 20% small town right out of Back to the Future. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Oh ya, the course was difficult but not brutal.
