DUNE MARATHON. RUN IN THE DESERT.
The Merzouga dune is a place full of exoticism, but with all the services and the best hotels to make it an unforgettable experience. Recognized events such as the Paris Dacar, the Titan Desert or Desert des sables have started from this enclave and we will have the logistics that support these competitions for the Dune marathon, half marathon and 10k.
The race is practically flat but will enter two sectors with dunes to enjoy the experience. All participants will run with a geolocator and we will carry several support vehicles, although the circuit is easy to run and very visible.
Technical Information
To ensure you have the best possible experience, we’ve put together all the technical information you need to know before you take part in the Dune Race:
– 125 positive elevation
– 125 negative elevation
– 90% dirt track
– 10% sand dune track
The circuit passes through the Hammada in 85% and 15% through the dune. The Hammada is a flat surface and easy to run. In the dune the pace is slower but the accumulated unevenness is not high, although there are short up-down slopes. The circuit is against-clockwise direction. There will be refreshment stations at Km 10, 15, 20, 25,30, 35, finish line. We have an opening, closing and sanitary vehicle. The closing vehicle is available if any participant wants to leave the race.
We will be staying in 4-star hotels but you will live the experience of doing a camel route to spend a night in luxury haimas in the dunes with all the comforts. This edition the program extends 5 days, from Friday to Tuesday. The trip also includes the marathon and all its services, transfers from the airport, 4-star hotels, one night in haimas transfers from the airport, one night in luxury tents, and a route on camels.
Registration includes:
- Transfers from Airport Errachidia via Casablanca, including pick up and return at the airport by private vehicle
- Accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Erfoud, in Merzouga and Haima the night previous to the marathon
- Breakfasts / Meals / Dinners
- Destination travel assistant for room distribution
- Marathon permit from the local government in the dunes of Merzouga
- Health support during marathon.
- Excursion recognition race circuit and visit Oasis to eat
- Hotel sports facilities; Gym, swimming pools, etc.
- Camel trekking activity through the Dunes

When I first signed up for the race I didn’t imagine that this was going to be one of the best experiences I’ve lived, I met a lot of nice and interesting people all around the world, the organization team was super friendly and during all the experience I felt super well surrounded. And not forgetting about the race, I haven’t felt more alive in my life, running on the literal desert, and being on a totally different atmosphere. I can’t wait to experience this one again.
