    Overall Rating: Pretty good run.

Course Difficulty: The RD at this race did some things that are a little out of the ordinary, like a double loop at the beginning, but hey, I get it, having a run to come out to 26.2 exactly is tough. That being said, a pet peeve I have about other races is getting done with a nice trail portion only to do laps through a neighborhood. At this race, all of the neighborhood/city portions (which were still very nice) took place at the beginning, and the race only became more scenic as you went…exactly how it should be. Flat to low grade paved rail trails with a significantly long downhill and then back up to the finish. Note: some roads were pretty rough (potholes), and the trail had a steep crown in some places-didn’t bother me too bad, but if you require a treadmill smooth surface, this is not it.

Course Scenery: Excellent. Running through old “oil money” neighborhoods, through a historic college campus, along a beautiful creek in a dense hardwood forest. Just really good scenery.

Race Production: It was good. Clock start, chip finish. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, lots of parking near the start/finish, no expo packet pickup was a breeze. There may have been an issue where they ran out of medals due to late sign ups, but I wasn’t affected so not sure…just heard the RD making an announcement about it before the start. Aid stations were a little far apart for my liking, but I always carry water for that reason so not a big deal-they were every two miles.

Race Swag: Good, nice medal and well designed race/gender specific dri-fit shirt.

My Performance: So-So. I find myself taking miles slower than I used to just to visit with people and encourage other runners, so my time was ok, but the run was very enjoyable.

This is a very small race. For what you get it is a decent value. No major issues. They also had a first year trial kids program which shows me they are making effort to improve and accommodate. I anticipate it will grow for that reason. If your looking for a shady summer run in PA, this one will do.
