This was a nice little 5k and a great cause (as most are). Low entry fee. For your entry you get a t-shirt, a run, and post race snacks. Not a real high production event but a moving one. It supports organ donation and several teams of runners participate comprised of family members and friends of loved ones that have passed and donated organs. There were a few there just to run but most were related or friends of donors or recipients. Most teams had team shirts with their loved one on it.
The course was pretty flat and fast. The only negative of this course is part of it is on a paved trail way which is nice but the part on the trail you loop back so you have runners goi g both directions on a crowded trail. The rest is on roads, lots of room. It is held in the Fort Worth stockyards. So there is some local flavor and things to see when running or just hanging out.
Finisher medals are handed out (plastic) to all finishers. They gave out trophies to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd over all. Age groups were 10 years and only 1st received and award, a certificate. Post race snacks, cookies, crackers, snack mix, bananas, and water were provided. There were a few Donate Life vendors on site. Small event. They announced 800 something registered but only like 377 finished. Good little run with a great cause/message.
