The heat can be a factor. While there was no sun, the humidity was stifling. Be sure to train in the heat. Do not count on running with a pacer. They are not set apart and the run does not start by pace times. I did not see a pacer at all. Although, they were supposedly there (yellow shirts?). Walkers start in the middle of the runners and you will definitely run upon them at the start. Just because you start on ocean boulevard, don’t think that you will see the ocean because you will not — that was very disappointing. Expo was great. Shirts run very small — make sure you order a size larger than you would normally wear. The medals are awesome!

This is a super-fun girl’s race. You can see the ocean for parts of it and the city for the other parts of it. The crowd support was great. And, I have to say, I love the guys who run this, especially if they are in tutus.
I ran this with my little girl, a friend of mine, and her little girls. We wore signs on our backs supporting our T1D runner and the runners behind us cheered their support for our cause. Talk about feeling the love.
This is a great race to run with friends and family. Never have I seen so many first time 5K’ers or first time half marathoners. There were also tons of “survivors” running this celebration of whatever they survived – again, feeling the love all around.
At the end, you get champagne (or juice, for the kids), and the beautiful medals are hung around your necks by the hunkiest guys you can ever imagine. (Hold on while I get this fainting spell under control…..!!)

Made this race into a family vacation. The expo was fun and the finish was so much fun. I got my medal from a life guard while my underage daughter chose a medieval knight. The course went through neighborhoods and the locals were happy to cheer on all the runners.
My husband has been to many of my races and still refers to the Divas ‘ MC as the most informative and entertaining he’s seen at a race.
