Is what I have thinking of that race. Advertised as one of the last races in winter where you dont have to wear winter close hence the relatively mild temperatures, the organisers dont tell that December is the wet saison in Lisbon with rain almost every day.
I went to the race start on race day (uber is really cheap in Portugal, buses were not so reliable on race day) having all my gear with me including change gear to find out that there was no bag drop of/ at least no signs and none of the volunteers seemed to know, even though I was told the day before at the race packet pick up that there would be a bag drop. Well, I had my little backpack with me and put everything in there and ran my first half with back pack in the rain, rain, rain.
They kinda had start corals (<1:15, <1:30, <1:45) but they were not enforced. Therefor, the first 2-3 km were a littly "cosy" and snuggly but that didnt keep people from pushing while everything was slowing down a bit for a U-turn. For the first time in a race, I lost it – I was really frustrated with rain, my back pack and being pushed that I yelled at the guy who was pushing me :-0 but I helped 😉 It was meant to be last race of the season and I did want to finish. The course led along the coastal line of western Lisbon/ many industrial places and constructions areas and was very flat besides a little turn into the city. The finish was back at the beautiful cathedral in Belem with folk music and some entertainment which soothened my soul as well as the sweet pastries/ pasteis de nata I had after my warm shower back in the hotel…
