This was the first ever Diamond Daze Half Marathon in Sallisaw, Oklahoma but it definitely won’t be the last.
Production leading up to the race was enthusiastic; the race director did several “live” videos and even offered training runs for locals.
There were a few community members out and about to cheer us on with most being in the residential area of the race route.
A large part of the race was an out an back that offered no cover/shade from the sun so it was kinda tough at times. But the young ladies at each hydration stop were so encouraging and cheered loudly no matter how far behind we were. A lot of the time, young cheerleaders appear bored and are looking at their phones… NOT THESE! They made everyone feel special!
I see a bright future for Diamond Daze. If I could make any suggestions it would be an earlier starting time and a few more porta-potties along the route. NOTE: I believe the number of potties was probably based on the number of participants so it makes a lot of sense.
Big Future for this Race
