Can you survive the Death by 5k Challenge? Ten 5ks in 24 hours.
The first 5k starts at 8 am and subsequent 5ks start every 2.5 hours. 5k start times are as follows: 8 am, 1030 am, 1 pm, 330 pm, 6 pm, 830 pm, 11 pm, 130 am, 4 am, 630 am. The final 5k must be completed by 8 am on Sunday.
The event will take place at the RunStrong Training Center and the 5k course will be the same for each leg, starting and ending at the Training Center. Runners may rest or sleep inside their vehicles in between 5ks, or can go home if they live close enough to the event location. There is also a green space where tents can be placed.
There will be 5 meals, each including hot food, served over the course of the event. Meal times will be 830a, 130p, 630p, 1130p, and 420a. There will be plenty of snack food throughout the event also.
Registrants will receive a race shirt along with some race swag, and finishers will receive a custom finisher’s coffin.
This event takes place in summer in Mississippi and the weather can be a major factor. There will be no on-course aid station, so runners will want to carry a handheld or other hydration equipment.
In between 5ks, we will cook food, play games, rest and relax to get ready.
Participant limits: Initially, we will have 75 spots open for registration. After those 75 fill up, anyone wishing to register will be placed on the waitlist. However, this is not guaranteed, so don’t wait to get signed up!

This event was put on by al local training center. Every 2.5 hours, a new 5K began. No timing, just a marker board that you were responsible for checking off after completion of each race. Started at 8am on Saturday, and the last 5K began at 6:30am Sunday. We camped in the parking lot of the center and enjoyed several meals, laughs and lots of aches and pains!
This event is limited to around 50 people due to space and the small number of organizers. I will definitely be doing this one again!
