Fifty thousand runners are able to participate in the Dam tot Damloop. This event is so special because of the great atmosphere, the unique passage through the IJtunnel, one of the largest Business runs in the world and the fact that the start and finish are located in two different cities. The main distance is 10 English Mile, with every year some top athletes at the start.
A day earlier, on Saturday evening, the Damloop by night takes place. A maximum of 15,000 runners will cover a distance of 5 miles (8 km) in the dark, through the lit streets of Zaandam. The newest part of the biggest running event in the Netherlands is particularly attractive for novice runners, but is also perfect as a warm-up for the 10 English Mile on Sunday.
The events are part of the Dam tot Dam Weekend, which, with over 87,000 participants, is the largest sporting weekend in the Netherlands. On Saturday, Le Champion will also be organising the Dam tot Dam Wandeltocht walking event for 16,000 walkers. The following day up to 6,000 cyclists will compete in the Dam tot Dam FietsClassic cycling event.

Weather much better this time, although the temps were a bit higher. Still a new PB. The service with your bags were different than the year before. You get a sticker on your bib and bag. Even though it worked like the old way last year, this worked as well. Great support from the crowd like last year!

The organization with your bags was well done and organized. Easy to drop in Amsterdam and collect in Zaandam. While writing this after finishing the Amsterdam Marathon, this one is pretty much the ‘main-event’ for Amsterdam regarding to running events. Great support from the crowd 🙂
