Come join us in the Sacramento River Delta town of Courtland to celebrate the Bartlett Pear Harvest. The day is filled with a fun run, pancake breakfast, arts & crafts, wine tasting, children’s area, parade, music all day, and lots of food. It’s a day of fun for the whole family!
The course is not particularly “stroller friendly”… it is mainly a dirt trail, but there are parts that are gravel, parts that are actively being farmed (be it an orchard or a field), and parts that are paved.
The 5 and 10 Mile Pear Fair Run is limited to 250 runners total. You will receive a Pear Fair baseball cap as your race gift! Pear trophies are given to top finishers in each male and female age group!
Honey Bee Alert: The Pear Fair run takes you through the heart of Delta agricultural lands and with that comes honey bees that pollinate the crops. Please be aware that there are bee hives near the vicinity of the run course.
Pancake Breakfast 7:30 to 10 am: Walnut Grove and Clarksburg Rotary are offering a pancake breakfast including pancakes, sausage, and PEARS! $7 for Adults and $5 for Children. Coffee and orange juice will also be available. The breakfast is located near the race start line. Feel free to indulge after you run!
All proceeds go towards local high school athletic programs and scholarships.

The weather was nice, sunny and slightly breezy. The runners were of all ages and abilities. We crossed the start line when one of the race officials, without a microphone, said “Go”. The course was flat and easy to follow. Post-race snacks were good: fruit, water and energy bars. There was no awards ceremony. Instead, runners went to the awards table and found out where they placed. If you won, they handed you a trophy.

This race production had a down-home, simple feel. But, it felt like the participants were running to qualify for a major race. It was that positive. The 5 mile course was pleasant. The race was production was laid back. We started a few minutes after 8:00 on the race coordinator’s “Go”. After the race, the award announcer gave the overall male winner’s age-group 1st place award to the 2nd place finisher. That was different. Refreshments were okay. The swag was great. A Pear Fair duffle rather than a tee. Nice! And the first place trophies were cool. Each had a pear on top.
