1st time doing this race in beautiful China Camp State Park located in San Rafael. The course was a big loop with one section of out and back at around 10ish miles. Once the race starts the course runs through single track covered in full shade with greenery all around and one can hear streams of water flowing through. After around 2 miles all the runners had run to the top of the hill so the main climbing was between 2 to 5 miles and later downhill till 8 miles with rolling hills to the finish line. Some of the views were breathtaking especially of the Richmond San Rafael bridge, overlook of the bay from the top of the hill, mini island next to the shore and couple of deer sightings.
The race organization seems to be small and surprisingly there were no medals for the finishers which was somewhat disappointing as it’s pretty much the norm these days. Nevertheless, had fun running in this beautiful part of the Bay Area!
No medals but beautiful course
