The Chickamauga Chase has been held since 1969 in the historic and beautiful Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park. The Chickamauga Chase is Chattanooga’s oldest continuously run road race, and the signature event 15K is one of America’s oldest races at that distance. With the competitive 15K, 8 Mile Trail Race, 5K, 2.4-Mile Scenic Walk and Kiddie K, the Chickamauga Chase is a must do event for the entire family!
The courses take runners past many of the park’s historic sites, monuments and markers within the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, located just a few miles south of Chattanooga, TN near the towns of Ft. Oglethorpe and Chickamauga, GA.
Our Special Use Permit with the National Park Service strictly limits the size of The Chickamauga Chase in all events to 2,000 participants. Over the years The Chickamauga Chase has grown steadily from several hundred runners to nearly 1,700. The Trail Race is limited to 400 participants. These limitation are needed to ensure a safe and orderly event, and to preserve the integrity of our great National Park.

Great run in a pretty location, and in hallowed ground. This is a run through the battlefield, both on road and off road. It was a nice mix of road and trail. This is a mostly flat course, just with a few rolling hills but nothing too difficult. There were a few places where the grass in the battlefield was a little long, could have been mowed a little closer to the race. And it’s toward the end of the race when you are ready for the running to get easier, not harder.
Organization of this race is fine, zero complaints. Nothing out of the ordinary either good or bad. I would run this race again.
Beautiful place for a race.

I love running on this course. Chickamauga is just a super pretty place to run. Not because it has lots of mountains or rivers, but because it is an old battlefield and you are running through a lot monuments, fields, forested areas, and is very peaceful. Very little traffic, especially that early in the morning.
