It was my first time running the Cherry Creek Sneak and while it used to be bigger in the past, the atmosphere is still fun. Parking for the 10 Miler was a breeze given that all the meters in CC are turned off on Sundays. Registering on race day was very quick and painless. The 10 Miler had fewer than 1000 participants to starting and getting into race pace was easy. The course takes you around the Cherry Creek Mall and into the local neighborhood. The 10 Miler runs around Cheesman Park which was a nice visual change – it also injected some uphill into the course. You’re running right into the sun on two occasions – once for about a mile on 7th Ave and again in the last mile before the finish line – my sunglasses were helpful! The aid stations were spaced well (only serve water) but there was only one porta-pottie along the entire 10 mile course. Overall a nice event.

I had just started doing races and had heard of the Cherry Creek Sneak from a number of people. I entered the 5 mile race. It takes place on the streets around the Cherry Creek Mall.

This is a very popular race so the number of participants is high. It was a festive atmosphere with bands or individual musicians every few blocks. This was a big party for most of the participants. All that together really made for a race that I didn’t enjoy.

I want to race where I have a chance to have some open space to run at pace. I like a quiet enough atmosphere so I can hear my footsteps and focus on my breathing. This was not that race.

If you like the party atmosphere, the people and the social aspect of an event over a straight run, this could be a race for you. Each to their own.
