The tenth anniversary of Chasing the Unicorn is expected to be the last. (The Alternative Half Marathon is expected to continue.) So come be part of the last last-chance to BQ! This race was for the runner and continues to be for runners. We know how important it is to BQ and earn the opportunity to run in the most historic distance running event on the planet.
The Chasing the Unicorn Marathon will be a double out-and-back of the runBUCKS Alternative Half Marathon course. The course is out-and back along the historic Delaware Canal State Park towpath trail from Washington Crossing Historic Park north to the edge New Hope, Pennsylvania, near Odette’s, returning to Washington Crossing Historic Park. The first and last .5 miles are on paved surface (the middle mile will also be on this paved surface).
Participants will not only get a small, friendly, low hassle race, the swag package for both the full and the half marathon will include your very own Spike plush!

For the 2nd year in a row, I used this Marathon as a long training run, as I live relatively close. It’s billed as a last chance BQ course and this is definitely true. It is pancake flat with a forgiving crushed stone surface that runs along an old Canal Tow Path along the Delaware River. Scenic, but repetitive as it is a double out n back.
Fast, Flat, Scenic, but repetitive.

I was very impressed with Race Director Pat’s emphasis on safety and social distancing during this event in 2020. It was delayed from Sep 13 to Oct 31. Very obvious a lot of effort was put into having hands-free water distribution and having Bib numbers ordered by expected finish times. Anyway, the race itself is very flat and very fast. Very scenic running along the Delaware river on one side and the Canal on the other. Only bummer is that it’s a double out n back, so it is a little repetitive.
