10k Zoo Run
This point-to-point 6.2 mile run starts right outside Fresno Chaffee Zoo, travels through the Zoo as it winds its way back through Downtown Fresno where you finish in grand-style at Chukchansi Park. Yes all 10k runners will get to join the half marathon runners as they run in amazement through Fresno Chaffee Zoo and gaze at all of the beautiful animals! 10k Runners will be bused from Chukchansi Park to the Zoo where they will start at the same time as the half marathon back at Chukchansi Park.
Rock n Run 5K
The Rock n Run 5k is a family event and for those who aren’t quite up to a 10k or half marathon but still want the run/party experience! You will run or walk through Downtown Fresno and rock to the sounds of Rock n Roll. This event does not go through the Zoo but does Finish at Chukchansi Park. 5k finisher’s will receive ALL the amenities that our half marathon and 10k participants receive including our custom finisher’s medallion. Grab your co-workers and create a team.

This was my 3rd year in a row participating in the half marathon. It’s a great, FLAT course through Fresno, starting and ending at the Chukchansi ball park. We run some city streets toward the Chaffee Zoo where we get to spend about 3 miles running through the park and zoo areas, where you often see some animals (lion, cheetah, elephant, etc.).
California Classic always puts on top notch events with GREAT MEDALS and this race was no different. The only “negative” I would say was that the race felt very quiet to me – not very much on-course support, very little music/no bands. No big deal but kind of different for a decent size city road race.
Good post race atmosphere and good food offered for runners inside the ballpark – we got breakfast burritos, bananas, and a bowl of ice cream! I did hear they ran out of burritos at the end, though.
I would definitely run this race over and over and highly recommend.

This is a really good race! The course is fast, with little elevation, but has a very interesting and at times technical path through the Fresno Zoo. There are all levels of runner, and people were welcome no matter what. The aid station support was excellent but I wished they had a different electrolyte than Gatorade. the Finish line at the Baseball Stadium (Chukchansi Park) was great. This is part of a two day weekend with a bike ride on Saturday. for those that do both, the Medals join together to say,”Rode the Freeway, Ran the Zoo.” and a Bonus animal pin was given. The Shirts and Medals were of great quality. There were also a number of bands on the course, but interestingly the songs were not always motivational…”Take it easy”?? I was hoping for more of a beat, such as the surf music at Surf City… the DJ at one corner had just what i needed for a strong finish. Ice Cream at the finish was a real surprize and treat. there is a beer garden for those that like that sort of thing. Parking was convenient and close by.
