Chose from a 5 pointer, 10 pointer, or 13.1 pointer! All distances include a bucking great finisher medal. See where this is going? You are going get a bunch of deer puns because it is right before WI deer season.
What’s with the name?
The race is during deer season, and we wanted a deer related name so we held a naming contest. The Bucks & Does Fifty Pointer was selected, and now you know. You will very likely see deer during the run or in this case, hiding in the woods.
Race Courses
The trails are well groomed and mostly wood chipped. There is a portion that is grass, but it is well maintained. Over 60% of the course is shaded with trees.
The course distances will not be exact since it is trail running, and as nice as the park people are, they won’t let us cut down trees to make new paths. If you have run at Nashotah with us in the past, it is the course in reverse (counter clockwise). Easier? Maybe, maybe not…
5K – 1 lap inside – 3.21 miles
10K – 2 laps inside – 6.42 miles
Half – 2 laps outside, one lap inside – 13.03 miles
The outside laps are run first.
The course is marked with 12X12 turn arrows, 3′ tall course signs and cones. It does not use the traditional ultra trail tape or markings. It is very well marked and you do not need to try and memorize the course.

It is Wisconsin in the last half of November. Cold, windy, snowy are all probable, and still, this was a very enjoyable marathon. Logistics were fairly simple. Sign up, show up a little before the race on race day to get your bib (and/or shirt), run, get your medal, go home. Low cost and you can opt out of the shirt to save another $5. The marathon repeats the big loop (5 mi) 4 times and then the small loop (approx 3 mi) twice. Support was just great for what this is. Course is pretty, people are nice, I would recommend this for sure. A few hills with a decent slope exist, but none last more than 50-100 of vertical. If you want small crowds and a minimalist marathon, and can handle some cold weather, sign up!
