I ran this race for the first time and found the course to be very good for beginners. Most of the course is pretty flat and starts near the ferry building, goes down all of the piers past Fisherman’s Wharf, Fort Mason and Marina Green and stops before Crissy Field. It was pretty foggy in the morning so we couldn’t see most of the views until the end of the race when it started to clear up more. I liked the medal design though with the packet pickup came with a shirt too (only a bib was at the pickup). Though at the end of the race we got at tote bag too and the after party was very well done. I definitely want to run this again next year and try the 12k (hopefully it will be less foggy). I recommend trying this race though.

This is a very fast flat course from Embarcadero Ferry Building near the Bay Bridge to the Marina Green near Golden Gate Bridge. The 5K doesn’t quite capture the great views as the 10K does but it is a fast race with one big hill. I had a great time at this race. The finish area included a wine tasting.

This is race 3 in a 4 race series. The 12K was a really nice out and back. There is one hill about mile 2, otherwise it’s a very flat course. Cute race had a good time. Medal was nice, no race shirt was given. Great finish line and lots of free samples.

Today’s race report. I ran the Oral B Glide Floss Bridge to Bridge 12k. The branding is funny. It isn’t merely the manufacturer but a specific product. I was hoping they’d be giving it out. I didn’t see any though.

This has been rated the most beautiful race in the nation. I see why. If you live in SF, you are lucky to have a half dozen choices for this basic route along the embarcadero, through Fisherman’s Wharf, past Crissy Field, and out to Fort Point. The views are difficult to match, with a mix of the bay, tourist attractions, and the Golden Gate Bridge, with only a single gentle hill. This is a point to point course, easily accessible by public transit. (The Muni train had not started. I took the owl bus packed with runners. A couple had not received their bibs in the mail as promised.)

The weather could not have been better. It was neither hot nor cold. There was a gentle breeze.

The field was more casual. I like that. The winner was competitive at 5:23 per mile. But I finished at least in the top half when I checked results, compared to my usual top of the bottom third in a trail half marathon. My stretch goal was 83 minutes. I did it, rounding down.

I would have been faster but I had a one tenth mile detour through beach sand. There was a downed runner on the little wood bridge. EMTs had come. The area was blocked off. Can’t complain. Looked as if they got the person back up a minute later. But boy soft sand is not easy to run on. Most folks walked that bit.

    I’d do this race again.

This is an addendum to my own report. I had a year off, 2018, due to a rare, serious autoimmune disease requiring chemotherapy. I am glad to be back. But, boy, am I ever slow: I did this in 96 minutes, a full minute per mile slower than two years ago. LESS

This is really a fun run, and well organized event. I ran this with 2 friends, we stayed together, and had a blast. There was about a dozen of us that started together, and met up again after the race. I enjoyed the scenery, and there is a lot of great energy at this race. The 12k went by really fast. We took a lot of fun photos and just enjoyed the day. At the end of the race, there are a lot of vendors out there and really a great way to end a race with music and food! They give out a nice medal, I don’t believe we received a shirt. This is a race I used to do years ago and they used to have us run literally bridge to bridge, so I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t actually run on the bridges, but I understand that with security and all, it isn’t as easy as it used to be. Overall, a great race. I’m definitely doing this one again.

Bridge 2 Bridge is an all time favourite of mine. The course is mapped out the same as the beginning of the SF marathon, from the Bay Bridge – along the Embarcadero to Chrissy Fields, along the water all the way, to the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s mostly flat – one killer hill after Aquatic Park – and sometimes, depending on the construction in the Presidio, you will have to run an uphill finish. **not always, but in 2014 this was the case and it was a medium roller hill, just enough to be tough and a little insulting!

I love this race and I have run it many years in a row. Good luck to all who participate.
