Bodrum
With its popular beaches, shop-lined streets and sophisticated restaurants, the city of Bodrum has long been the favorite seaside retreat in Turkey, as well as one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, so-called Turkey’s St. Tropez. Bodrum combines modernity and the nostalgia of the village life in harmony with natural surroundings and city life.
Picturesque bays and marinas of Bodrum, filled with millions of dollars worth of yachts, are the best spots for sea lovers.
The city was called Halicarnassus in ancient times and was home to the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Unfortunately a series of earthquakes destroyed the monument but other historical attractions such as Bodrum Castle, built by the crusaders in the 15th century, can still be found here.
The half marathon course, which will start from Bodrum Square, will continue in the direction of the marina and reach the historical Myndos Gate, and after taking a small beach tour via Bitez and Konacık, it will present a visual show by juxtaposing the uniquely beautiful Bodrum view with the historical steps of the Ancient Theater. After the return of Kumbahçe Beach and İçmeler, all that remains is to reach the finish line with pleasure.

Difficulty- mixed terrain of roads, sand, cobble stone. The elevation was much hillier than I expected. Elevation uploaded.
Scenery- very nice. There were some areas that we were just running through the city. But there was a good person along the water and some historical parts.
Production- packet pick up was easy. The morning of, there was only one public bathroom open which had 3 stalls for women. And- there was not enough water to flush, so we were filling up buckets to flush the toilets. Despite getting in line about 9 min before the start time, I was still late to start. Even though I only started about 3-4 minutes after most folks (7:37), this caused a significant issue with my timing. Despite being one of the last few folks to start (way after others had passed) my start time was some how clocked in the middle of everyone else’s (7:32:51). Because of this inaccurate start time, my overall official time was about 3-4 minutes off of my watch time, and also cost me placing (as I missed placing by < 30 seconds). I am still unsure where the start time came from, and I have been unable to get a response from the race folks.
During the race, water and soda was provided. No other electrolytes/ energy.
Swag- tote, key chain, a few snacks, and a tech shirt. I’m really confused on their sizing though as the xsmall I got fits like a medium. The medal was really cool and unique. It’s also a magnet. Though I won’t be putting it on my fridge.
