We wanted to get out of town and go his run fit the schedule.
I love to run events tied to local sites and this was run on portions of Route 66 t Catoosa Oklahoma. While you didn’t run by the Blue Whale it was a short walk from the start/finish line.
Parking was about a mile away but they provided bus transportation.
The event itself was small, 506 finishers in the 5k. They also had a 1 mile before the 5k.
Course while not hard did have a couple decent hills at the start and finish (out and back course) but mile 2 was pretty flat. It was 1 and 3 that had the hills. They said they will have a new course next year and I got the impression no or fewer hills.
No real scenery to see. Run on the roads with a few houses and businesses.
Great on course support. One official water stop bit there were several un-official water stops so plenty of hydration.
Post race was water which was warm. Would have been nice if it was cold as it was a warm humid day. They said there were snacks but I didn’t see any but I also didn’t have time to wander as I had to get back to shower and check out of the hotel. This was an 8:30 AM start to the race.
Swag was good. I nice t-shirt that I will actually sally wear and a nice finisher medal. I got first in my bracket but again, didn’t have time to wait for awards due to checkout time at the hotel but I saw a picture of the awards and they were a nice plaque and I think mug.
Overall I would say this was a good smaller local event and if you find yourself in the Tulsa area, give it a shot.
