The Blazin’ 5 Miler is supposed to be all about running in the heat, but I was glad that temps stayed in the high 60s this year and that we avoided the rain that came later in the day! The event is at the YMCA, and the course goes along their pathed trail paths. The only thing I didn’t love about the course itself was that the bridges were a little slick from the rain the day before, which made for some unsure footing when crossing over them (I think there were 3 bridges that you crossed over twice each on the looped course). My other small gripe was that they ran out of shirts in my size; I probably could have gone up or down a size, but in the scheme of things, I have enough race shirts! The bibs and medals had a tie-dye design that I found oddly charming. All in all, the race production was very smooth and made race day easy.
