The Black River Trail Classic 50K features 31 miles of trail! No out and backs and no repeating! We think that’s pretty unique for our neck of the woods and we think you’re gonna love it! The first half of the course is smooth and runnable. The second half is hilly and hilly!
The 25K lets you explore most of the hiking and biking trails in the Black River State Forest! This fun, challenging, and often described as hilly course will take you from the Smrekar trails to the Wildcat trails and back. 15.5 ish miles of fun with no repeats or out and backs. Well, we do repeat a 1.9 mile section of the course just before the finish line. You’ll have to run it to find out why!
The 10K is an awesome loop around the outside of the Smrekar trail system. The course starts flat and gradually climbs to the Ridge trail where you can take in stunning views of the surrounding buttes, hills, knolls, and ridges. As you make your way along the ridge you’ll have a fast downhill to the finish line!
The new 85k distance is a combination of ALL the races. You’ll start early and run the 10k course. When you get back from your warmup you’ll head out on the 50k course. All that’s left is to head back up the ridge and finish your 25k cool down. It really is the best way to familiarize yourself with the Black River Trail Classic and become a local legend of the state forest. There’s an 11 hour cut-off for the 85k.
In an effort to reduce our waste and impact on the forest, there won’t be any paper/plastic cups at aid stations. Please make sure you have your own container for water, soda, and electrolyte drinks.
If you like homemade chili with all the fixin’s, cornbread muffins, freshly baked cookies, and more then I’ve got just the place for you! The finish line! Re-Pete’s Saloon & Grill from Black River Falls, Wisconsin will provide their homemade meat and vegetarian chili for all racers after a great day on the trails.
