This November, the Peer Power Foundation presents the annual Peer Power Big River Crossing Race. Sign up for the Half-Marathon or 10K, and you’ll make the interstate trek across the Mississippi River’s longest public pedestrian bridge. Or join for the 5K or Family Fun Walk for a fun 1-mile course along the river in Tom Lee Park.
Your entry fee is more than a fee — it contributes to Peer Power Foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year. The Peer Power Foundation is a first-of-its-kind partnership with the University of Memphis and Memphis Shelby County Schools to recruit, train, and employ high-performing college scholars to tutor and mentor public high school students within the classroom. And it works well. In addition, you gain these great benefits:
– Medals for all participants
– Incredible views of Downtown Memphis and the Arkansas floodplains
– Dry tech, long-sleeve race shirt for all runners
– A newly, fully paved half-marathon course on the Arkansas side of the race
At nearly a mile in length, Big River Crossing is the longest public pedestrian bridge across the Mississippi. Big River Crossing is also the country’s longest active rail/bicycle/pedestrian bridge. It serves as the connection point of Main Street to Main Street, a 10-mile, multi-modal corridor that also features the Big River Trail System, creating ties to attractions throughout the Memphis, West Memphis, and delta region.
