From the seasoned runner to the beginner, the Azle Lake Run offers four different event levels of varying challenges for all.
Set for its 37th annual running in 2018 through the streets of this small city that lies just a short drive from nearby Fort Worth and the Dallas metropolitan area, we feature a half marathon, 9.9K, 5K and one-mile fun run, all of which start and finish at Azle High School.
The race takes runners on a winding, out-and-back route through Azle which lies along the western edge of Eagle Mtn Lake.
Pet Friendly
The Azle Lake Run is one of the few half marathon events in the nation which permit pets on the course with their owners.
Animals should be current with their vaccinations and keep their owners on a leash.
Water will be provided on the courses for all of the furry friends.
Pets who run the half marathon will receive their own finisher’s medal.
Free post-race pancake breakfast
Because we don’t expect anyone to run for a lousy, green banana.
All proceeds from the Fun Run event and a large portion of the 5k event go to the Azle High School Marching Green Pride Band, Emerald Dazzlers and their booster club. Band members will be assisting and providing musical entertainment all along the course.

Course is up and down, continuous little rolling hills. Somewhat dangerous as you run on roads that are not shut down so you have oncoming traffic to deal with. There are parts that are pretty but overall the course is just weird layout in and out of the neighborhood. I’d say it was worth the $30 I paid for a sale price to run a half though!

This was my first half-marathon. The 2018 Azle Lake Run was a great event. While the hilly course was challenging, the small crowd (168 HM participants) and fun atmosphere post race were very enjoyable. I’m sure I’ll run this one again in 2019.
