There are several runs in Arizona, but none that run through ten cities which partner together to provide a home town feeling to all participants. The Arizona Marathon – Half – Relay offers everyone the opportunity to run-jog-walk one to 26 miles. Many have begun running/walking for the first time … MORE

Flat, pavement course with few spectators and small runner volume (200 in 2017) but well marked and organized and allows you zone out, establish your pace for a good race time. It is best to stay in a hotel at the Westgate Entertainment District so can catch the bus that leaves at 515-530AM to take runners to the start in Buckeye. The race is predominantly on flat, open areas with fields backed by large scenic hills and periods where the course winds through some small quiet neighborhoods. There was adequate waters stations and GU at miles 10 and 20 (approximately). The temp was cool with a misting rain for 2017 which made for perfect running conditions. The finish line area at Westgate is fun and great for spectators and family. Running through the Luke AFB was interesting because of the proximity of the of the course to the fighter planes. If you like, what is currently, a relatively small race that allows you to essentially set your own pace, this is a nice option early in the year. I found the volunteers and the responsiveness of the organizers (through social media and on the day of the race) to be superior.
