The first time I ran this race I thought it was going to be veeery difficult because of the snow but for my surprise it was super nice to run and I had even a better and authentic experience. We went on a tour with snow dogs and learn a lot about them. Even though we didn’t had the pleasure to see the northern lights I lived one of the best experiences ever. So 3 years later, on 2025 I ran it again, the experience was even better, good feeling during the race, the experience of cold bath on the river and sauna, tour with the snow dogs and finally achieving the dream of seeing the northern lights with our own eyes. Both years the group of runners and families was so nice, I met amazing people all around the world and I promise you will go back home with your heart filled with gratitude, a lot of new amazing friends and another experience lived.
Great organisation, impressive area
Take normal shoes and gravel shoes, always have a camera and enjoy the great area, animals but most off all the northern light ( best time 23.00-03.00). What an experience!!!! MORE

The first edition of the Arctic Marathon in 2022 was an unforgettable experience. We ran in perfect winter conditions: –9°C, fresh snow underfoot, and not a breath of wind. The route was stunning, and there was a real sense of camaraderie among the runners — many of us are still in touch three years later. The activities that Apolo organised were fantastic, with husky sledding being the absolute highlight. An incredible adventure — Do it, and you’ll treasure the memories for years to come!

The first time I ran this one on I thought it was going to be super difficult because of the snow, but for my surprise it was so fun to run, it combines pavement and a little bit of snow so it’s perfect if you want an unforgettable race. If this wasn’t enough, we saw the amazing northern lights every night and we went on a tour with snow dogs. I felt so happy and peaceful there.
