Spring time is going to be upon us and the Easter Bunny will have been training all winter to reclaim the age old tale against the tortoise. This year we invite participants to run like the Hare or pace yourself steady to victory like the tortoise. The Antioch Rotary Club … MORE

4th annual Antioch Rotary Club Bunny Hop 5k. I’ve wanted to run this race for awhile , but something always conflicted with it. This race is run in the Dow Wetlands. There are nice views of the Delta and the Dow Wetlands. There is a .75 mile walk to the start/finish line from the Antioch Marina. You walk back after you finish. It’s a nice walk along a boardwalk where you get to the wetlands up close. There is plenty of free parking at the Marina. The course itself is on packed dirt, some gravel, a small amount of pavement, and some grassy area. There is one aid station. This race uses chip timing. New for this year were nice unisex tech tees and a cute medal. Previously the shirts were cotton and you got a ribbon for finishing.
The Antioch Rotary Club races money from this race for local athletic scholarships. This year, they raised $12,000.
There was a pancake breakfast provided at the Antioch Marina.
All in all a nice local race that I would run again.
Small town feel, scenery, for good cause

Growing every year, this race sold out with 400 participants in 2018. It’s a bit of a walk from the ample parking area to the start of the race, but along a boardwalk into the wetlands. The school band entertained while we gathered (and used the porta-potty’s) before the race start. Then we were off on the dirt and gravel roads and trails, around beaver ponds, and past another band. There is some good competition, but still a fast course with medals for age groups for some of us regular runners.
There is a small post race festival, perfect for families with the Easter bunny, face painting, and bunny hop, even an egg hunt, before the awards celebration. Perfect for the whole family.
