Packet p/u before race was nice for out of towners. Disappointing scenery for a bucket list trip to Hawaii. One brief view of the shoreline at Nimitz Beach, but much of the race was on a 24 inch shoulder of a very busy road. Not back of the pack friendly. They were 90% packed up when I crossed the finish line. Had to hunt someone down to get my age group medal. Perk: free photos.

I originally picked this race because I was looking for one in January that aligned with my honeymoon, and this race fit in perfectly (it’s also how we picked which island we would be staying at). I am so glad I found this event, not only is it for a great cause, Hawai’i Parkinson Association, the community of runners and volunteers was amazing! The medals were amazing, they gave out reusable water bottles and cooling towels too! If I didn’t live on the other end of the country, I would run this every year!
